I am kicking around the idea of converting a detached garage to an ADU with the intention to rent it out. One practical thing I'm wondering about is what to do with the things my family currently stores in that garage - camping gear, bikes, holiday boxes, garden tools, etc. Our house isn't large so some things just won't fit anywhere else.

I understand that getting rid of as much as possible is likely the real answer. But I'm curious if there are any good examples of conversions that also keep a bit of extra storage for the homeowner - maybe as a storage loft, small side room with a separate external entrance, or other creative ideas. Maybe there are no great ideas when dealing with such a small space...
