He is a crocodile now. A very handsome crocodile. Not all the time, but if he is tired or overstimulated, he turns into an ankle biter. We're working on it, but those tiny pointy teeth are something.
Other than that, he is the easiest happiest puppy I've ever had. He sleeps through the night in his crate with no accidents. He asked for the door a few times. He comes when called and starts to sit on command. We're starting puppy kindergarten classes this week, and I can't wait to see how he does.
He follows the cat around like a duckling behind his mama. He plays with the neighbors lab through the fence and will run up and down the yarn with him. He walks on a leash like a pro.
He grew from 9.5 lbs to just shy of 15 lbs. We had to up his food twice already. He's going to be a big boy.
He figured out the ball and will happily run after it and grab (but not bring it back). Well, he is a basset, not a retriever, right?
If anyone has a recommendation for hard (but puppy appropriate) chew toys, please feel free to share. He likes his toys (he has baby kongs, krinkle toys, plushies, and rope toys), but he seems to prefer chewing my kitchen chairs, and I prefer not to. I looked at hard wood toys and antler toys, but I'm a little worried about his baby teeth.
Also, he is not very interested in the kong, even with treats. He loves dried liver as a treat but won't work on the kong for more than a minute or two. My late dachshund would get crazy getting all treats out of it. We will try different treats, but I'm open to suggestions.
