As the title says, I desperately need help cooling down my upper floor. It’s not even peak summer yet, but it’s already like hell in here.

House Context:

  • Structure: It’s a small two-story house tucked away in a narrow alley.
  • Ground Floor: Where kitchen and bathroom locate, I also but my motorbike there.
  • Upper Floor: This is my "everything" space—it’s where I study, work, and sleep. Since I spend most of my day here, making it comfortable is crucial for me.

The Problem: From 9 AM to 4 PM (basically as long as the sun is up), the upper floor heats up so much that I feel like a rotisserie chicken in an oven.

  • The Fans: They don't help; they just blow hot air directly at my face. I’ve tried the "ice bowl in front of the fan" trick, but it’s not very effective.
  • The Bedding: I sleep on a mattress directly on the floor, and by noon, both the mattress and pillows feel like they’re on fire.
  • Airflow: The house gets plenty of natural light, but there is almost zero breeze even when I open the windows. Since I'm in a narrow alley, I think the surrounding buildings are blocking all the wind.

The heat makes me sweat constantly and it's extremely uncomfortable to do anything for more than half the day. It's honestly driving me crazy.

I’ve attached a floor plan and some photos of my windows below for context. Any advice, DIY hacks, or cooling tips would be a lifesaver!
