Question about e-channel and arrival card filing

Kia ora,

I'm travelling to China next week, and was wondering if I need to file an arrival card or if I can just take the e-channel? Nz have 30 day visa free entry and the Chinese echannel guideline on the arrival card says

> I.Foreigners (including foreign border residents) who intend to enter China can fill in their entry information through this system. The following persons are exempt from filling in:

>> 8.Foreigners who enter through the E-channel.

Arriving on an nz passport, we already have e-gates here in nz but the arrival card is for customs (eg food declaration etc).

Just a bit unsure on what eligibility means for the e-channel. Google ai (yeah yeah) claims I'd still need to file an arrival card, but doesn't have any source for that (always always verify sources with Ai)

I haven't yet received hotel info etc yet from the company who has provided the flights/accommodation but they have assured me there will be a driver waiting to pick me up and I'll get those details shortly.

For those of you missing the deflecto calculator from John bridge, we have a solid replacement.

FloorElf, the guy who originally wrote the "deflecto" calculator for the John Bridge forum back in the day, has made his suite of calculators available.

It’s set up as a PWA (Progressive Web App). You don't have to download it from an app store. You just go to the link, and you can either bookmark it in your browser or install it directly to your phone's home screen.

The best part, if you add it to your home screen, the calculator code lives locally on your device. Once you open it the first time, it will work completely offline without cell service or internet access, just like a native app. It works the exact same way on both Apple and Android.

Direct link to the tool:

If you are having trouble figuring out how to save it to your phone, he has an explanation page here - https://floorelf.com/what-is-a-pwa
