It’s been a while since I’ve had this feeling but it’s come to the point where I literally spend wayy to much time finding a video to watch. Sometimes it takes so long I give up. It’s like the algorithm traps you in a bubble of content it thinks you will like and offers nothing new. Oh, you watched a video on a certain topic ? Here’s THOUSANDS of them now. Enjoy! Eat your slop!! Like damn bro I feel like I watched the one good youtuber talking about the subject and now you’re flooding my feed with bootleg versions of the same stuff. Suggest me new stuff, topics, etc. I’m genuinely baffled at how shit the app’s become. Clearly it only looks at what you just recently viewed and spams you with it. My subscription aren’t taken into account. Nope, you’re subscribed to mostly gaming and pop culture content ? Well, sorry bud, you searched for a cooking video last night so now 1/3 of your feed will be pasta videos. Oh and you’re subscribed to like three independent journalists covering geopolitical topics ? Well here’s your second 1/3, all sloppy political content you clearly didn’t ask for, all while all your dozens of other subscriptions have nothing to do with this! And last but not least, you had an existential crisis one night and watched a few videos on religion and spirituality ? Well there ya go buddy, that’s your last 1/3! This is your youtube now, aren’t you happy!? You can thank us for perfecting it by not skipping our ads or buying premium, you’re welcome!!!
This is literally my feed now btw I’m not exaggerating, the homepage has become unusable and recommandations under the current video I’m watching are also trash and just a rehash of the homepage.
Not to mention the abhorrent infestation of video essayists. Like ffs is all youtubers can do now analyze some other content or give their unasked input on whatever ? Where are the creative people ? Is my shitty feed hiding them from me, or is youtube like this for everyone ?
TLDR : for some reason youtube now works by assuming that what you just watched will be all you’ll ever be interested in and recommends you the same topics over and over. That is literally all I get. Idk if you guys knew, I didn’t until my feed was so dry I scrolled down more than I ever had, but yeah, the fucking youtube homepage, if you scroll down long enough, it ends. Instead of, idk, suggesting you new topics, it just fucking ends. And refreshing keeps you in their hellish algorithmic bubble. What a joke. This is either done on purpose or the guys managing all this have sold themselves more than Bonnie Blue to get their position.
