Favorite Brewery by State: Ohio

Ohio is (maybe surprisingly?) 8th in total breweries in the US, with over 440 breweries. Ohio Beer Week in Athens is on its 21st year, which will take place July 10-18th this year. Despite it saying "week" in it's name, it is indeed a 9 day event where every tap in every bar and restaurant in the city is taken over by a Ohio brewery (seems unlikely to me, but I believe literally everything Google tells me).

If you're anything like me (and I pray to God you're not), you've spent the the last 34 days wondering which state had the fewest breweries in the US. Well, with 22 breweries total, North Dakota ranks dead last! But they are ranked 29th per capita, so they have that going for them. The most notable beer festival in North Dakota is the Fargo Beer Festival, which took place in February for the 10th edition.

North Carolina has an impressive 407 breweries total (9th in the US). The community is currently celebrating NC Beer Month, and the state's biggest party, 15th annual Brewgaloo, is happening next weekend! Taking place April 24–25 in Downtown Raleigh, it is the largest craft beer festival in North Carolina and the 2nd largest in the entire US featuring over 110 NC breweries.

Next up is the Empire State....New York! New York is 2nd in the US with around 539 breweries total. Only California has more total breweries. The community is currently gearing up for one of the oldest traditions in the country.....TAP New York, which returns next month! Taking place May 15–17 in East Durham. At 28 years, it is one of the largest and longest running craft brew festivals in the United States.
