This smooth egg shaped rock with brain like furrows was ‘found in the woods’ by a relative in 20th century. The finder has died, so I can’t know exactly which ‘woods’ he meant for sure, but it would definitely be in the northeastern US, probably in the lower Hudson River valley in NY between river and CT line. If not NY definitely a neighboring state. There are just tons of rocks and lakes everywhere in the area, but most rocks are of a different type, darker, larger, and less polished.
It is ovoid with measurements of 5.5” x 6.5” x 7.5”. The weight is 12.6 pounds. Anyone ever seen something like this? As a kid I called it a dinosaur egg and later I thought maybe it was rolled around by a glacier or something but I honestly have no idea. What do the experts think?
