I have a 12,000 gallon pool and recently had my single speed pentair pump give out. My filter has also always had a small leak, so I figured I might as well just rip all of this out and replace everything. I wanted to clean up some of the pipes, check valves, and diverters that went to a now-abandoned solar heater.

I'm debating on removing all the check valves assuming they're no longer needed. I noticed the single return pipe going into the ground is 1.5 inch, while the main drain and skimmer are 2 inch, which join with a 1.5 inch vacuum pipe on the left. In 6 years, I've never used the vacuum pipe. Does it make sense to convert that into another jet?
