What I've learned from your feedback on my DE clown scheme
I've been posting my dark elf harlequin inspired blood bowl team, and your suggestions have been very helpful. Here's what I've learned about myself as a painter:
- Come up with 1 thing that ties the team together and 1 thing that sets the individual apart. For my team, I chose purple and black as the common color, but let myself play with the color of the diamond pattern.
- Painting models individually is fun. I usually batch paint, but once you have your team colors set, you can bang those out and focus on what makes the individual player unique. I can get a single model done in a week, which is more enjoyable for me than having the whole team done in a shorter amount of time.
- Schemes evolve. If you look at my posts, I was very indecisive about the direction I wanted my color scheme to go, but that's ok! I've learned from each model, and actually planned my model painting order to account for things that I wasn't sure about. Paint a lineman and then see what happens. If you think he has too many colors, paint an assasin to see what a more muted pallete would look like. It's all a process.
