First time cooking with a new wok and it burned - what should I do?

So my sister just used the new wok for the first time. She just heated it under strong fire for like 5 minutes, but now it's burnt and there's like blue marks in it alongside brown burn marks. We have not done anything to the wok aside from washing it. We didn't put any oil to it yet. My mom thinks it's because the wok is cheap, but I feel like it's user error on our end. How can we salvage this wok? I'll try to attach a pic in the comments. Thanks!

Aside from this, I want this to look like it's the kitty's turn to receive the shared braincell. I hope it's an exciting deviation from the reference, I'm trying to learn more that just copying pics. Any other critique is appreciated. Thanks!
