Hi everyone,

I’m from China and currently doing my master’s degree in Dubai. I have several years of HR/recruitment experience in China, but not much local work experience here.

Recently, I received two job offers in Dubai. Both roles combine HR and admin responsibilities, and the industries are not ones I’m particularly interested in. Salary also not high. I’m more interested in recruitment/HR development roles long term, so I’m unsure if these positions are the right direction for me.

I’m also struggling with a few things here: high living costs compared to salaries, limited social life, average English confidence, and difficulty adapting to the weather (plus ongoing allergy issues,it affects my health everyday).

At the same time, going back to China feels more comfortable and familiar, and I already have experience there. But I don’t have a strong offer back home yet, so leaving also feels uncertain.

I feel stuck between staying in Dubai to gain local experience (even if the role isn’t ideal), or leaving earlier and restarting in a more suitable environment.

Has anyone been in a similar situation? Is it worth taking a less ideal role just to gain local experience, or better to leave if both the role and environment don’t feel right?

I’d really appreciate any honest advice. Thank you.
