How are professional websites actually built nowadays?

I have a genuine question about how professional websites are actually built nowadays.

I always assumed that a “serious” website or a powerful online store had to be fully custom-built (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, backend, etc.), but then I see that a huge number of websites use WordPress, Shopify, or other CMS/builders.

I also hear the term “marketplace” a lot, and I’m not completely sure how it differs from a normal ecommerce store.

For people who work in web development or have real-world experience:

  • What percentage of professional websites would you say are built with WordPress or other CMS platforms?
  • When is it actually worth building something fully custom?
  • Do large companies and serious online stores usually use CMS platforms or custom development?
  • What’s the real difference between a normal ecommerce store and a marketplace?
  • Technically speaking, what makes a marketplace different?
  • Is building a marketplace significantly more difficult than building a standard ecommerce website?
  • Are there real differences in performance, SEO, scalability, or maintenance between CMS-based sites and fully custom stacks?

I’m interested in understanding how this works in the real world, not just the “ideal” technical answer.

HYSA vs Money Market Fund

Hi everyone,

I'm looking for some advice on where to park my cash while I execute a DCA (Dollar Cost Averaging) strategy. I have €12,000 that I plan to gradually move into index funds over the coming months.

I am torn between these two options for the "holding" phase:

Trade Republic: Cash account (currently offering around 2.02% or the ECB rate).

Groupama Trésorerie IC (FR0000989626): A Money Market Fund (MMF) via MyInvestor

I understand Trade Republic is covered by the Deposit Guarantee Scheme (up to €100k), while the MMF relies on asset segregation. Also is important my tax efficiency (Spain context): Since I am based in Spain, I know that switching between funds (MMF to Index Fund) is a tax-deferred event (traspaso).

I’m looking for the most efficient, profitable and safe setup that won't make my tax return a nightmare

Thanks in advance!

Question about class diagram

I had to prepare a class diagram: "A company implements several projects (identified by unique names). The project has a start and end date. Each project is realized by a team (a subset of company employees) of 3 to 5 people. A person is described by a unique identifier, name, and surname. One person can be a member of many teams. The implementation of the project is divided into tasks. A task has a subsequent number, duration (in hours), and goal (text describing what to do). A task can be assigned to at most one team member. A team member can have many tasks assigned."

I'm considering two approaches. I would appreciate it if someone could tell me if one of them is correct or propose another solution. (Is there a case in which a class would have no attributes)?

I'm helping a friend choose a laptop for university and we’re not 100% sure 🤔

She’s starting a marketing degree next year and needs a laptop. Her use case won’t be very demanding: mostly office work, browsing, assignments, and some light multitasking.

She’s considering the MacBook Neo because she likes that it’s small, lightweight, and has good battery life. From what we’ve seen, it should be smooth enough for this kind of basic usage.

That said, we’re aware of some limitations:

  • Few ports
  • Limited storage (although she could rely on cloud/external drives)
  • 8GB RAM with no upgrade option

In theory, it seems like it should be fine for basic use and very portable.

Does anyone here own it or have experience with it?
Would you recommend it for a marketing student, or is it better to go for something like a MacBook Air or a Windows laptop?

Any advice or experiences would be really appreciated 🙏

  • YPocos puertos
  • Almacenamiento algo justo (aunque podría usar nube o discos externos)
