Nirma vs HPNLU (tier 3 dilemma, need honest advice)

hi im currently very confused between nirma and HPNLU, and I would really appreciate some honest guidance

From what I understand, I will most likely be getting HPNLU and other t3 nlus through vacancies, and Nirma is already an option I’m considering. Since both fall more or less in the tier-3 category, I want to make a practical decision rather than just going by the “NLU tag”.

I’ve spoken to multiple students from both colleges, and I’m getting very mixed opinions:

HPNLU:

•Placements are mostly off-campus right now

•Internships are largely self-driven

•NLU tag

•Mooting culture is active

•Location (Shimla) can make managing internships during the semester difficult

•Alumni base is still developing

Nirma:

•More established with a better alumni base (from what I saw on LinkedIn)

•Decent exposure (moots, debates, etc.)

•Internship support exists (they give contacts/leads but you still apply yourself)

•Faculty quality is inconsistent (some teachers are fresh LLM graduates)

•Placements are not very high: around 3–8 LPA (max)

•Management is strict/orthodox (more like school environment)

•Limited college life (no major fests etc.)

Mentors are also divided: Some are telling me to choose Nirma (more stable and established)Others are saying go for HPNLU because of the NLU tag

I’m honestly very confused. I understand that it depends on how much effort I put in, but I want to know which one gives a better platform for corporate law at this level.

My questions:

  1. At this tier, what should matter more NLU tag or a more established college with better exposure/alumni?

  2. Is HPNLU too risky right now because of placements and alumni being still developing?

  3. Is Nirma a safer option, or are the placement concerns a big issue?

  4. If you were in my place (aiming for corporate law), what would you choose?

I’d really appreciate honest, practical advice. Thanks :)
