I can't put my hands on thr recipe book I know this recipe is in and I just found out we are out from the multiple batches I made last summer and fall.

I'm not finding it online either and the ones I did all seem to call for maple syrup when I was sure it called for brown sugar as the only sweetener.

I have to go buy more onions first but I really wanted to pit hands or eyes I guess on the recipe. Does anyone have the link that I just can't find?

Thanks in advance.

New raised beds this year, new approach.

I have 8 new raised beds total that I'm planning with square foot gardening. Beds are 18"×3'x1' (×6) and 3'x7'x1' (×2).

Both front and back yards will have 3 small beds and 1 large in a configuration making it 11.5'x3'.

I'm working with a small space at my rental townhouse with a large tree front and back so I am aware I'm fighting the shade at every turn. I also have mature existing raspberry canes trellised right in front of my living room window, these were planted originally 13 years ago and one of the small beds is full of garlic I planted in November purely experimenting as I've never grown them before.

I'm struggling a little planning companion planting, both with conflicting information and picking options that don't waste space with plants we won't use.

My plans are so far out front are bush beans, zucchini, strawberries, leaf lettuce. I've left the ends open for now to add some flowers and unsure what to plant in the 2 small beds on the right, these will also boarder a sidewalk on the end.

Out back is the 2nd picture. Same layout. I have 2 small blueberry bushes I'm hoping to have the depth to plant on the far left and probably strawberries on the far right as that's where we currently have a kiddie pool we planted out with a dozen strawberries 5 or 6 years ago, they're being replaced with a different variety this year or next, but same area. The large bed I'd really like to have tomatoes in the middle and possibly pole beans along the top which faces the rest of the yard. I'm not sure yet if this will work, if conflicting plants are far enough apart based on companion planting. How far is far enough especially when looking at seperate beds but close proximity like this? There is more sunlight in the first picture on the right, there'sa large birch tree shading the left, and the 2nd picture is probably equally spread for morning to early afternoon sunlight once I take my gazebo down today, or move it. Half the yard is shaded by a large evergreen on the top side of the bed layout, from the other side of the yard.

Southern Ontario, lake Ontario shoreline, zone 5b/6a, last frost date is generally around the 3rd weekend in May.
