I was recently diagnosed with MS and my neurologist wants to put me on an “aggressive” DMT ASAP because of the extent of damage that’s already in my spine. Apparently I’ve had this for a very long time and a misdiagnosis of “it’s all psychological” kept doctors from taking me seriously for years.
We are considering Tysabri, Ocrevus, and Briumvi; although Tysabri is my doctor’s first choice if insurance will allow. My biggest concern (besides copay/cost) is how immunocompromised I might be on an aggressive treatment. When I get sick, it tends to hit a lot harder than it does for anyone else around me who gets sick with the same thing, and I’ve lost function/had worsening symptoms after getting sick in the past. Would I have to give up things I love like going to museums and having sushi? What are things that I should consider when making this decision?
Advice, experiences on these infusions, and things to consider are all welcome. Thank you in advance.
