Flat foot after Achilles rupture

I ruptured my Achilles about 18 months ago and developed flat foot on that foot after the injury. I’ve been through PT and got custom insoles but it’s still very painful. I’ve had an MRI confirmed a tear on the posterior tibial tendon and I’m seeing a feet surgery specialist on Monday. Does anyone else have this experience? Did you end up getting the surgery?

I went the non surgery route for the Achilles rupture but slipped and broke my ankle about six months ago (def due to poor balance/ability to move quickly due to the flat foot) which required surgery. I’m really sick of having a cast/boot/being non-weight bearing after these years, but I also want to be able to walk, hike, stand still without pain..
