'm new to roms and stuff and I'm wanting to add a romhack called fire red: essence, but there is no code like gameshark just a download. How should I set it up for it to work?

Any help or information is apreciated!

I really want to buy the anbernic rgds mainly for pokemon and want to mod some games prior to gen 6 for the fairy type but that doesn't matter. My main question is if you can even mod games on an emulator, and if so, do i need to download it on the rgds itself or first on a computer and then transfer it to the console
