Hi everyone!
We’ve started organizing a China round trip on our own and would really appreciate ideas and advice from people who have already done a similar trip.
We’re planning a 21–23 day trip for 6 people from mid-August to early September. (None of us has been to China before.)
We’re considering Air China with a multi-city ticket, something like:
Budapest → Beijing
Shanghai → Budapest
Our plan:
Beijing: 3–4 nights
Xi’an: 2 nights
Chongqing: 3–4 nights
Zhangjiajie: 3–4 nights
Guangzhou: 2–3 nights
Hong Kong: 1 night?!
Macau: 1 night?
Shanghai: 3 nights
Do you think this itinerary is roughly doable as it is?
How many nights would you spend in each place?
We’re planning to use trains for transportation.
Or are there routes where it would be better to choose flights instead?
Another question:
We’re a bit unsure about the Guangzhou – Hong Kong – Macau section. Would it be better to stay 1 night in both Hong Kong and Macau (we’re just worried about wasting time with hotel check-ins/outs), or stay longer in Guangzhou and just take full-day trips to these places? Is one day enough for the main attractions?
Or would it be better to choose Shenzhen instead of Guangzhou?
If we also want to include a beach day somewhere, where would you recommend?
And if you have any other tips or suggestions, please let us know so we can organize this trip in the best possible way.
Thank you very much in advance for your help! 😊
