I went from filing VAT returns in a small Mombasa office to receiving a certificate signed by the Amir of Qatar for the FIFA World Cup 2022

Sharing my journey for any Kenyan thinking about the Gulf.
Started in 2013 at a small audit firm in Mombasa. By 2022 I was in Doha managing financial payments for the FIFA World Cup and received a Certificate of Appreciation signed by His Highness the Amir of the State of Qatar.
I wrote a long form piece about exactly what changed — the documents nobody warns you about, the recruitment agencies that actually place Africans, the salary realities, and what GCC employers really test for in interviews.
