Using Nest WiFi Point as speaker only with a different router

I was having too many problems with my Google Nest Mesh WiFi Setup (main router + 2 points/speakers). So I am now on TP-Link Deco for my main wifi router.

But I will still like to use Nest WiFi Points as speakers only.

I have removed the devices from my Google Home app. And I have done factory reset (by physically holding down the button at bottom) on the points.

Now, when trying to add as new device in Google Home, it detects the new devices, but when I enter the 8-length alphanumeric "Setup Code", nothing happens. It just goes back to "scan qr code" without any kind of message or error code. It seems like even if I type garbage in that Setup Code text box, same thing happens. So it looks like it is not recognizing the setup code and I have checked mulltiple times that I am entering it right.

Is it not possible to use Nest WiFi point as a speaker only with another router completely standalone with no primary Google router to talk to?

I have a Google Nest Wifi Router + 2 pointers which are also smart speakers.

I have Youtube premium subscription (includes Youtube Music)

Until a couple of days ago, everything worked well:

* manually casting to a smart speaker from Youtube Music app, playing music

* saying Ok Google and asking it to play music (default provider Youtube Music)

Since a couple of days ago, neither approach works. Both result in:

* non-stop skipping of songs back to back, with nothing playing.

* after a dozen or so skips, speakers says "something went wrong, try again later"

* other services like pandora, iheartradio, spotify -- all free accounts -- work

* other paid service like siriusxm for which I have a subscription as well, does not work either.

Looks like google speakers don't want to play music from services for which I pay money? This is probably Gemini AI taking over at Google HQ, now that humans are worth dogshit, and making decisions like these.

Any pointers? Customer support was useless - wasted my time for an hour and ended with "i have escalated to engineering team".

Already tried everything you can think of - soft reset, hard reset, resetting the whole universe, traveling to another dimension, logging out and in, jumping in a blackhole etc. Nothing has fucking worked.
