Moving to Texas this fall - looking for entry-level GIS career advice :)

Moving to the DFW area in Texas this fall and looking to start networking before I apply for GIS positions later this summer. I recently graduated with a degree in Geographic Information Science with a specialization in climate adaptation and would love advice on companies or industries that are open to hiring entry-level GIS professionals.

My experience includes:
Land parcel data work with the Oklahoma Tax Commission

GPS/data cleanup projects with local emergency management departments in Oklahoma

Environmental justice work involving chat piles in northeastern Oklahoma

I’m especially interested in environmental, emergency management, planning, utilities, or climate-related GIS work, but I’m open to different paths. Mainly looking to connect, hear about good companies to watch, and learn what skills are most valuable right now.

I appreciate any advice or networking suggestions!
