Hi all,

My baby is 8 months old and is on a 2.5-3/3-3.5/3.5-4 wake window schedule (some days if he has longer naps we can extend the window). We are sleep training him using CIO (he does not do well with check ins). He is doing well with sleep training at night. It takes around 15-30 mins for him to fall asleep, and once he is asleep he only wakes once to feed. He will sleep at night for 11-12 hours total. The problem is, his naps have become HORRIBLE. Prior to sleep training, I would rock him to sleep and then transfer him to the crib fairly easily. During sleep training, no matter how long I wait to transfer or how slowly I place him down, he wakes up and screams the second he hits the crib mattress. I’m losing my mind. I have tried to get him to nap independently for the first nap of the day a few times but he SCREAMS. The longest I tried was for 35 minutes and then had to rescue the nap and let him nap on me. I can’t keep letting him sleep on me as it wastes so much of my day and I can’t get anything done because I am with him all day long. Does anyone have any advice? Should I try harder with nap training? I’m at a loss. I keep finding conflicting info on the internet and the nap training pin on this subreddit is only for up to 6 months.
