I have a child support hearing coming up in Texas and could really use some advice from anyone familiar with the process.
Paternity was established years ago, but that's pretty much where everything stopped. I've never received formal child support. He has sent money here and there through Cash App, but it's always been sporadic and completely voluntary.
The kids live with me full-time. They usually spend weekends with their paternal grandmother, and he sees them during that time.
I was recently served with papers from the Attorney General regarding child support, medical support, dental coverage, and wage withholding. I'm trying to make sure I'm fully prepared.
A few questions:
- What documents should I bring with me?
- Will the court consider the occasional Cash App payments?
- Is retroactive child support possible in a situation like this?
- Does weekend visitation with his family affect child support?
