This is the last council meeting before they approve the budget!

Hello everyone! For those of you who know us, we are staff at Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden who decided to unionize two years ago to address our unfair wages and working conditions. After a year and a half of negotiations, the Garden doesn't seem to agree that we deserve livable wages, so we finally picketed outside of the gate during the Garden's first concert series of the year. It's time to the pressure on.

We love the Garden and want it to be a great place for people to work, but people can't work without a living wage. If you support us in our unionization efforts, please join us in spreading support letting the garden know how you feel when you visit.

Local Hampton Roads transgender non profit, The Calos Coalition, has been having funding issues. Alot of larger lgbt centers recieved majority of last year and this year's funding. Not the smaller non profits, who made huge impacts and needed help to continue. They also try to host monthly Trans Family Dinners to help bring people together in the community to learn, grow and feel like they have a safe place to be. They have helped people with needs for food, medical supplies, std and sti testing, contraception, clothing, housing, household repairs, etc.

Whats the Trans Family Dinner?

Food, friends, family, trans youth, older trans folks, parents of trans kids who want to learn, and allys. Come together to celebrate Trans existence, to deepen roots into a safe and welcoming community.

I appreciate anything yall can do to help. This really made a difference for our Hampton Roads trans folks including parents wanting to learn so they can be a supportive part of their children's lives. I hope you can help Calos continue their years long tradition of this.
