I owe 9k, i am scared
I owe a previous apartment complex 9k for breaking the lease. I signed a lease with my little sister (19) and she moved out and left with her boyfriend without notice about 6 months into our 12 month contract. The apartment was 1600 a month and we could comfortably afford it together but not separately. I told my apartment manager about it and she didn’t really give me any options other than terminating the lease early. The fees for that ended up being just under 7k. My sister had a dog that brought fleas and destroyed the carpet so they charged us an extra 2k, totaling out to $8,895.
The apartments had a payment plan for the amount owed but it was 900 a month and i can’t afford that along with my current rent and my sister is refusing to pay anything.
i am fully expecting to be sued for this amount and its scaring the crap out of me. I am 21 with a shitty. job and i have no savings. i need some advice. I feel like i am totally screwed.
