Pet refusal due to insurance
Hi all, me and my partner are looking to get a cat. I asked the landlord for permission a few weeks ago and was denied „due to the terms of the current landlord insurance policy”. Obviously I want to try again now that the renting rules have changed, but I’m sure I will get the same response.
Is this a reasonable excuse for denial? There are many insurance companies out there and I see no reason as to why getting pet cover would be a problem. It is a leasehold but I don’t believe pets are banned in the building.
What would be the appropriate approach here? We’re on good terms with the letting agents and would like to stay in the flat but I do want to push this as it seems like a bad excuse for refusal.
