Since I was getting close to 100 completed games on TrueAchievements, I started making a list, but I ran into this question. Why do some games count as completed even if I haven’t played the DLCs or only played them partially, while others don’t?
I’ve included a few examples, like Dante’s Inferno, where I don’t own any of the DLCs (there are two DLCs, and one of them has unobtainable achievements because they were online and the servers are now shut down), DOOM and Borderlands 3, where the achievements I’m missing are part of free DLCs that I did play, but with different completion outcomes. The first one counts as completed, while the second one doesn’t.
Also, I played DOOM for many hours on Xbox One, but it probably only shows the time played on Series X (?). And finally, Destiny 2, where I only have some DLCs and a few achievements, doesn’t count as completed.
Is this something that changes from game to game, or are there specific rules that can help me understand whether completing the base game is enough to count it as completed, or if I also need the DLCs?
Edit: Found other completed games without or not every DLC achievements: Grounded, Minecraft, Lies of P.
I guess most games count as completed even without all DLC achievements...
