Recently got the results of my MRI on my left shoulder. I have a long wait for my dr appointment to go over results. Just wondering if anyone can tell me what my results actually mean haha. I’ve done 6 weeks of PT (all I have covered) with no improvements. I’m losing sleep almost everyday. The only way I can get more PT covered is if I had to have surgery. Also, the pain started roughly in November and has been persistent.
Discussion: The supraspinous tendon is very slightly heterogeneous suggestive for a slight
degree of tendinosis. The infraspinous, and teres tendons are intact.
The subcoracoid space is reduced measuring only 6 mm. There is some impingement of the
subscapularis tendon which is heterogeneous in signal intensity in keeping with tendinosis. The
distal fibers are very slightly attenuated. The biceps tendon remains intact.
There is moderate degenerative arthropathy involving the AC joint. There is slight downward
sloping of the acromium. There is mild degenerative arthropathy involving the glenohumeral
joint. There is degenerative signal in the labrum
There is a small amount of fluid noted in the subacromial/subdeltoid bursa. There is no
significant joint effusion although there is some edema associated with the AC joint. No
abnormal signal is noted in the humeral head to suggest chronic osseous impingement.
Interpretation: The subcoracoid space is reduced and there is some impingement of the
subscapularis tendon resulting in tendinosis and a slight degree of chronic partial thickness
tearing .Mild supraspinous tendinosis is noted.
