I am totally new to 3D and blender, have been taking some basic lessons but I feel really lost.

My aim is quite simple, to make some fun pics like this (credit to x @RinradaWesker). I found some game characters models on the internet but have no idea what to do with them. It looks really different from the basic lessons I learned (which starts with simple modeling).

I realized 3D is such a big project, can I have some suggestions and guidance on what should I learn?
