Vehicle choice help

I'm flip flopping back and forth between a few options. I've been saving up to buy a new to me vehicle, my first purchase but not my first vehicle. I was adamant that I wanted a Jeep Wrangler. Specifically, a Diesel Rubicon because I wanted at least a rear locker, but recently I've got the urge to buy a Ram 2500 instead. I'm not really debating powerplant or capability the only other engine I would consider is the turbo 4 on the jeep. Im not interested in any V8 or V6 gas engines because I dont want to listen to them scream trying to push 35s up a hill. Been there done that with a Tundra. I got to drive an F250 with a rear locker for a little over a year and wheeled it in Merus Adventure Park. For what I want to do, a full size truck should be okay. Im not trying to crawl through the rubicon, but I would like to see as many trails and parks as possible all across the country. I'd be leaving out of Texas. That F250 was tight and long on that blue trail we did in merus but extremely capable.

The reason for the debate: the f250 was totaled and im borrowing my dad's 2025 tacoma. I hate it. For the most part the size is fine, except when im trying to hold my wife's hand on road trips. Cupholders put large cups or straws into my forearm and the gear shift is right where my hand wants to rest. Which would be fine if i wanted to hold the shifter, but i dont. Didn't have this problem on the f250 with a column shifter. Im worried about having these same issues with a wrangler/gladiator. Ive driven a wrangler a couple times but i was always by myself and wasnt thinking about these things. The tacoma hauls things in the bed fine but seems upset any time I hook up a trailer behind it. It feels like a car with a bed. Im also hoping the wrangler or gladiator would not feel the same.

On the jeep, im positive I could get through any trail I come across but im worried about not loving it on long road trips (at least 8 hours possibly 20). On the ram, how many trails am I keeping myself from going to just because of how gigantic it is?

TLDR: Am I crazy for trying to overland out of a Ram 2500 instead of a Wrangler/Gladiator? Will be going on trails not just FSR.
