Subject: Feedback on Biological Age (PhenoAge) and Creatinine for Strength Athletes
Hi Bevel Team,
I am a dedicated user with high muscle mass who takes creatine daily. I’m frustrated that I can’t use the “Blood Biological Age” feature because it currently penalizes users like me.
The PhenoAge model uses creatinine as a key marker, but for strength athletes, elevated creatinine is often a result of high muscle metabolism and supplementation, not poor kidney health. When I input my blood data, my biological age increases significantly, which is both inaccurate and demotivating.
I suggest the following improvements:
- Contextual Toggles: Allow users to flag “High Muscle Mass” or “Creatine Supplementation” so the algorithm can adjust the weighting or reference range for creatinine.
- Alternative Markers: Allow the use of Cystatin C (which is not affected by muscle mass) as an alternative to creatinine for the biological age calculation.
As a performance-focused app, Bevel should be able to distinguish between a “fit and muscular body” and “kidney stress.” Currently, this feature feels calibrated for the general sedentary population, not for your core demographic of athletes.
