I've got two players at the moment, one who's playing a Rogue (Subclass currently undecided), and a Monk (Way of Shadows). They both grabbed the Criminal background so they're kind of similar. I've already got good ideas for sidekicks to help their party comp, but I'm a little stumped concerning encounters and adventures for them.

I'm not good at planning heist-able locations, but I don't feel like I could just throw them into a traditional adventure. A lot of my ideas are geared for more martial or spellcasting classes.

They've given me free reign on their back stories (not in the mood to draw one up they say), so I could fit them in however I please.

I've thought about the following options for a while and wanted to see if anyone had advice;

  1. Rogue's mother is a famous adventurer that vanished a long time ago, and the party just received a sending from her asking for help.

  2. Monk is the last member of a now tainted monastery. He was left for dead when he refused to convert, and is now honorbound to stop them before they dishonor his clan.

  3. The party discovers a secret society's map to an ancient treasure that would give them a lot of power. Sort of like Templars from Assassin's Creed.

  4. The Rogue is working towards building her own thieves guild in her city, and the two of them must recruit new members and fight off rival gangs to take over the city.

That's about all I've got so far. Hopefully typing all this out will help me "Rubber Duck" my way to an idea. Any suggestions or advice would be greatly appreciated.
