I don’t get why this is such a laughable take to have. The first thing Nick Wright (who doesn’t know ball) and the other guy (don’t even know who he is) did was laugh.

I guess maybe I would’ve worded it slightly differently. I would’ve said “Cade is the best all-around American player in the league right now.”

From purely a scoring perspective, there’s other American players I would take over Cade. Ant, Brunson, Tatum, maybe even KD (because that’s all he does).

If you combine two-way play though, and also factor in facilitating ability, Cade takes the cake over everyone else.

This is why we know that these talking heads don’t know ball. All they see is a headline of somebody dropping 50 in a playoff game, and that’s all they look at. There’s literally no nuance at all in these convos.

I know, I know. Reading too much into this type of stuff, but I am curious why he would do this.

Do the Heat have a rivalry with the Magic? I haven’t considered these two teams as rivals.

Heat fans in the comments of this picture say there’s no rivalry between those two even though they’re in-state organizations.

Another question: would you want us to make a trade for Herro if we could keep our core?

I know Herro isn’t a good defender but he is a shot creator. He’s more of a #3 on a contender than a #2, although he can take over games like a #2 and #1 at times.

Overall, I feel like we need to find somebody to check as many boxes as possible. Be a competent defender. Be able to create their own shot. Be able to hit threes. Be pretty durable.

Shooting isn’t our only priority to address this offseason.

The main reason is because shooting comes and goes. While we need to address shooting during the offseason, what mainly has to be the focus is a secondary ball handler/shot-creator.

We have too many dudes on this roster that can’t create offense for themself and need everything to be run for them or to play an off-ball role.

We need to target players that won’t be ball-dominant but can create their own shot when necessary. This has been sorely missed in the postseason.

Too much standing around is happening with this current offense in the playoffs. And when somebody does try to be a hero, it looks so bad because nobody is used to creating their own shot.

Cade Cunningham has a turnover issue, but it’d be cut in half if not more if he had players that actually knew how to score the ball without being set up first.

The following players are on their list (take it with a grain of salt):

-Lauri Markkanen

-Trey Murphy III

One minor gripe with this. Neither of those players are “stars”. That word is used too much around professional sports.

Here’s an idea. How about we get both players. Do everything in our power to not give up some of our young core. First round picks are easier to give up, but our core is not.

I known Lauri has an exorbitant contract and Trey Murphy III could cost us as many as four firsts, but we might have to just bite that bullet.

Free agency isn’t what it used to be. Stars rarely hit the market anymore. Especially young, prime-level stars.

Draft night is one of the easiest times to make a deal. Wouldn’t it be awesome if we could strike a draft night trade for a star or two?

I’d take last year’s squad in a heartbeat. Yeah, we won 60 games and all that this year, but I enjoyed last year’s team far more.

The year after a 14-win season. The redemption year. Actually having shooting on the squad (even if the numbers didn’t back that up, it’s still night and day compared to this current roster).

The worst part about all of this is it was so painfully obvious this team had serious flaws. Like literally was impossible to miss.

And yet, we treated this playoff series as a test run, when we got the Knicks, Cavs, and Celtics all vulnerable this season.

I cannot believe we are about to lose 4-1 to an 8-seed after winning 60 games man. Can’t never have shit in Detroit. Like fr. Breaks my heart 💔

Before people try to flame me on here, let me first offer a disclaimer: I know it Is still early in the season. Things can, (and more than likely will) turn around.

With that being said, we are seeing the repercussions (right now), from the Orlando Magic of giving up a haul for a non-superstar level player. The Magic identified a player that they deemed as the final piece to their “Big Three” in Desmond Bane.

This is a cautionary tale to Pistons fans. I understand that we want to trade for a star (or superstar) for Cade, but it has to be the right fit and right player for us. We shouldn’t just trade for a guy, just to trade for him. A lot of times, that guy underperforms.

And even if Bane ends up living up to the hype in the end, is giving up the haul that they gave up really worth a 4-seed and a second round exit, which is probably their absolute ceiling no matter what?

They gutted a big part of their future just to have short-term gratification. In my humble opinion, trying to do things the Thunder way is the best strategy.

I understand they have had like 80 draft picks over the last 5 years, but they have drafted smart, and now have a juggernaut roster. It’s easier said than done, but if we actually draft well, and develop players, we won’t need to target stars in free agency, risking our future and putting all of our chips into the table on the chance that a star or superstar level player works out here.

I don’t know. I know we can’t patient forever, because Cade definitely won’t, but I just don’t want us to be so reactionary just because other teams are reactionary, going all-in as it’s FOMO.

There are ways to get draft picks, and stockpile over time. Orrrr, maybe we can do both. Trade for a star without mortgaging the future AND still stockpile picks.

I’m not an expert. I know I will get downvoted for this post, but all I’m saying is if/when Trajan finally trades for a star/superstar level player, I hope he thinks very carefully beforehand, and I hope what we give up in the deal makes sense and doesn’t destroy our future for short-term gratification. Because ultimately, we want this thing to sustain. Like the Detroit Lions.
