Hi, I have a male peach faced lovebird and lately he keeps making this really fast clicking/growling noise and fluffing up right before he head bobs and makes this panting sound. I’m absolutely sick of it and I feel like I’ve tried everything to get it to stop.
He has never had a mirror in his cage, no bells, no cozy huts, no petting his body, and I rotate the positions of his toys and perches quite often. Sometimes I shoo him or tell him to quit it when he starts the regurgitation head bob. He gets 12 hours of covered cage time as well.
He doesn’t actually grind against anything or get territorial, he just keeps doing that damn growl and head bob sporadically. He doesn’t have something stuck in his crop either, this is clearly some kind of mating thing. I house him in a room by himself. There are no female birds in the house either.
