Thoughts after healing nearly 2000 rounds of Solo Shuffle
That's right. You're friendly neighborhood healer, selflessly spamming queues to help your queue times.
I main Priest, and have hit 1950 on both Disc and Holy this season. I hit 2.1k in DF S1, but have played the game very on and off since WotLK, and didn't start PvPing until BFA.
I am having a blast. The game isn't without its flaws, but I think Solo Shuffle was one of the greatest additions for PvP. Sad that it kind of drained the 2v2 and 3v3 bracket a little, but it offers a much less stressful way to play the game over LFG.
Sure, classes are imbalanced, they usually are. But as a Priest there's no better feeling than deathing a MW paralysis, fading their stun, and fearing them as they come in to CC you. Sure they win that trade 90% of the time, but that 10% I can outplay them is like crack, and what keeps me coming back.
That's why I love Priest. So much out play potential for dodging CC. So even with an imbalanced game, if you know your class really well, you can outplay a lot of the FotM players.
People can be toxic, but just rage bait or ignore them. Everyone has bad games. I have gone 6-0, but also have gone 0-6, and everything in between. I have been reported for win trading because I lost so bad one game. Everyone has their off games, or bad lobbies, but just keep queueing.
Rating will come as you analyze your mistakes. Yes, DPS zug zug out of line while you're in a CC chain, completely oblivious to the fact, but what could you have done differently? I can think of a million things the DPS do wrong, but can I look at myself the same way? The only constant in all your games is you, so it is the only thing you have any control over improving.
So take your losses with stride, and always ask what you could have done differently, even if it was not your fault. Every one plays with the same pool of players. Your favorite streamer can consistently get high rating for a reason. There is something you could be doing differently to help you win.
Also, fuck the BGB noise, that shit is garbage. I'm like hard stuck at 1400. I got the bad RNG for BGB, it is not free rating. It's entirely luck. It's still fun though..
