Hi everyone, I’d really appreciate some insight from those who have built careers in psychology or related fields. I recently completed my psychology degree and just started working in case management to gain hands-on experience, and I’m trying to be very intentional about what I do next. While I’m grateful to be gaining real-world exposure, I still feel unsure about which long-term direction makes the most sense, especially when it comes to building a career that offers both growth and financial stability. Right now, I’m considering whether I should pursue graduate school (such as an MSW, counseling, or clinical psychology program), continue building experience and advancing in roles like case management, or focus on gaining certifications and specialized skills that could increase my earning potential. I’m also interested in eventually creating something of my own in the future, like a private practice or business, so I want to make sure I’m laying the right foundation now. For those who have been in a similar position, I’d really value hearing what path you chose, whether you feel it was worth it, and if you would do anything differently looking back. I’d also appreciate any insight on what roles I should realistically aim for next after case management and which degrees, licenses, or skills made the biggest difference in your career progression and income. I’m open to honest advice, even if it’s not what I want to hear, because I’d rather make informed decisions now than feel stuck later. Thank you in advance.
