Brief, simple original piano piece. Dorico for music notation
I've been trying to notate some of my piano pieces for years. I first tried the text-based Lilypond notation software (very interesting, although somewhat abstract and frustrating at times), then MuseScore, which has developed very much since I first began to use it and not seems like a mature and very capable notation app, and now Dorico, primarily because I love the design principles of the app: the separation of the music as it exists as pitches and durations, from the appearance of that music as represented by glyphs and symbols on the computer or printed page.
Although Dorico has a learning curve like most other software, its approach to music notation makes a lot of sense to me. Just finished notating a first simple piece using Dorico, performed in the video by myself using the Vidal MIDI controller keyboard and the Pianoteq virtual instrument.
