Hey r/promotion — sharing my debut novel, just published on Amazon KDP.
📖 Canvas In Between Souls by Damith Wickramasinghe
What it is:
Historical literary romance set in early 19th century England. 85,000 words. Alternating POV between two characters who should never have been in the same room together, let alone the same story.
The premise:
Ferdinand is an enslaved painter — a man taken from the road who has traveled three continents, speaks five languages, and reads people with an accuracy that unsettles them. Bianca Beaumont is the eldest daughter of the estate, shaped since childhood into a portrait of composure. When he is commissioned to paint her portrait, what develops between them over months of sittings, silences, and careful conversations has no name in the language either of them has been given.
What kind of book it is:
Slow burn. Literary in register — closer to Ishiguro than standard historical romance. The romance is open door but earns every page. The central argument: *love is our expression of understanding. But people don't say a word about it.
Who it's for:
Readers who liked Washington Black by Esi Edugyan, The Remains of the Day , or Homegoing by Yaa Gyasi — but want the love story front and center and the ending to be warm.
