Is there an appetite for Gubernatorial Incumbency Mods?
TLDR: I'm interested in developing a Governor's Incumbency Sim mod and I'm interested in hearing people's thoughts about what i consider to be an interesting untapped sub-genre.
Long Story:
Hi folks,
I've been a semi-commenter for a little bit in this Sub and I've been an avid enjoyer of the community and the many mods folks have made. My favorite "genre" is incumbency simulator/CYOA with Icarus being my favorite. I just love to play as the president and have the opportunity to change history for the better (or worse). Election Mods are great as well, but I don't find myself replaying them as much.
As such, I am really interested in working on developing an Incumbency Sim, but to be honest, while I had a few ideas, I'm a bit nervous. I don't want to step on anyone's toes, and given the strong roster of teams developing such great mods, i didn't know if i was capable about making a mod that could match the caliber of others.
So i wanted to throw out this test balloon to see if anyone's interested. I want to do an incumbency sim about my home state of Massachusetts where one plays as an incumbent (alternate) Governor who has to deal with the eccentricities of Massachusetts Politics, the relationship with the volatile and chaotic State Legislature, the independent and ambitious colleagues of the executive branch (including the SOS, Treasurer, AG, Auditor, and Governor's Council), and the general populace who are divided less so by party loyalty but by strong ideological/temperament differences.
So my question that I hope sparks some discussion is, would people honestly give a shit? I'm excited to try to make a fun experience to share with the community, but i want to make sure that at least some folks are interested in an admittedly niche sub-genre that I'm not sure anyone else has done stuff with (i know state elections have been done before but i don't know of any incumbency sims that are state and not national).
Thoughts? Thank you for taking the time to listen to me ramble.
