I wanted to share a Soul & Jazz playlist I’ve been curating for a long time. Whether you already love Soul & Jazz or you’re just getting into these genres, this playlist is a great place to start. I update it regularly, and I highly recommend listening on shuffle.
It’s based around the Dutch radio station NPO Soul & Jazz, so the selection is very diverse. You’ll find everything from Japanese City Pop and Jazz Fusion to classic Soul, Latin-influenced tracks, R&B, Funk, and more. Unfortunately, the station will stop broadcasting in 2027 due to budget cuts within the Dutch public broadcasting system, which is also one of the reasons I wanted to preserve that musical diversity in playlist form.
Besides being inspired by a radio station, I also recommend it if you want to introduce yourself or your friends to Soul & Jazz in an accessible way.
As someone who originally started as a drummer, also plays piano, and produces my own songs with vocalists, I’m pretty selective about what gets added. I only include tracks that I personally think are truly playlist-worthy.
