After I finished Faith of Beasts I went back to re-read Livesuit again (what a novella, it's incredible) and I found a lot of interesting details and also the bleakness of what the human side of war is doing to its soldiers...
But my main theory here is what they call "Control". Their higher-ups in a sense. I'm pretty sure this "Control" is basically the enemy of the Carryx, making use of the humans in the war.
Also, in the livesuit introductions to new recruits there's a ton of details regarding how suits work and them being shown "livesuit material" working on it's own.
One of the many details in that section that drew my attention too with some curious descriptions of how the material works when given sticks to work it becomes a ”5 jointed digit".
Overall, Livesuit after FoB just feels even more interesting to draw conclusions as to how and what the enemy of the Carryx is and makes it clearer to me that humans are being used by something else on the other side of the war
