I’ve been thinking a lot about the direction of the Assassin’s Creed franchise and how many settings it’s already explored. One thing I keep coming back to is whether Ubisoft should ever revisit certain time periods or locations again — not as necessarily as direct sequels or remakes , but as fresh takes in the same historical eras or setting.
For example, Japan and the Viking age feel like settings that could easily support more than one interpretation. Valhalla gave us one vision of the Viking era, but there’s so much more Norse history and regional variation that could be explored. Same with Japan, I feel like there’s tons of missed opportunity there! I however don’t imagine Japan would be revisited for sometime.
I’m curious on people’s thoughts and feels about the idea.
Would you guys be open to Assassin’s Creed returning to previously used time periods with a totally new story and protagonist?
Or do you think each setting should remain a one-and-done experience so the franchise keeps moving forward in time and space?
Are there any specific eras you’d actually want to see revisited in a fresh way?
I’m well aware that the topic of where the next assassins game will be set is something that always gets asked so I wanted to pose a slightly different question.
