Headphone conniption
Im looking to buy a pair of headphones as a graduation gift to myself and I wanted a second opinion on my options. I don’t live close to any HiFi stores that I could feasibly go to for testing, so i thought i would ask the reddit. My budget is under $1,000 and i’m upgrading from my Sennheiser HD560s, but i also own DT770 pro and fiio FH5s (although they are iem’s). I want to go for a planar magnetic (would be my first), but if you have any good dynamic driver headphones let me know. These are the headphones I’m currently looking at buying:
Edition XV
Arya Stealth
HE1000 Stealth
Moondrop Para 2
Moondrop Cosmo
Fiio FT7
Focal Clear
Focal Haydens
HD490 Pro
HD660s2
Audeze LCD-2
I prefer a neutral sound with bass or treble not being too much of a priority. I listen to a variety of music so i like a good neutral headphone. I want a significant increase in imaging as i found my HD560s to not be as precise in that aspect. Soundstage is nice but imaging is what I’m looking for specifically. I also love to hear the detail in my music, like the brush of a finger on a guitar string, so that is what i would consider as well. Im a little nervous about buying a HiFiMAN due to people saying they’re sibilant, so if anyone can support or refute that i would appreciate it. If anyone can give me feedback that would be amazing as this would be the biggest purchase i have ever made and want to make sure it’s right.
