Hi - many thanks in advance. I think I don’t need a visa but I’d like to know for sure:

- I hold passports from both the U.S. and EU

-Flying from NYC to Hong Kong, staying in Hong Kong for 3 nights

-Traveling by train from Hong Kong to Shanghai, staying in Shanghai for 4 nights. Then flying to Tokyo (plane ticket is already booked).

-QUESTION: Do I need a visa to enter Shanghai? I think I am exempt because of the 240-hour rule and Shanghai being the midway point between Hong Kong and Tokyo. Is this true? Does it make a difference if I enter Shanghai on my U.S. or EU passport?
