I'm done with Windows, as I'm tired of having to dual boot between Linux and Windows. I find myself never wanting boot into Windows except for updates to Windows and Ableton, which that is the only thing keeping Windows on my desktop. So, at this point in time, a Mac is now a very attractive option. given that this is gonna be exclusively a music machine, I want to cut down the costs as much as possible...but still not compromise general flow if I were to just do a base model with no upgrades. So where would a Mac Mini be a good long term system, spec wise, for Ableton.

Extra Details:

  • Storage is not an issue. (I have a 4TB nvme drive I will pull from the PC and put in a enclosure to connect to the Mac. I also have a large home server to store any files from the Mac. I am not spending the Apple tax on storage.)
  • I have dual displays. (48" LG CX and 24" LG monitor)
  • This has to be compact (It is already a rather occupied desk with monitors, displays, existing desktop PC, etc.)

Pretty much, would the base model Mac Mini work, or should I at least increase the RAM? Or should I look elsewhere in the Mac lineup?
