Knee History: Significant L knee impact injury from football in 2nd grade, MRI (results not findable due to time), no surgery
Case: 26 y/o active male (paramedic, 6’5” 180 lbs, strong clinical suspicion of asymptomatic EDS previously, not tested, highly flexible and double jointed), no other knee injuries or any pain related to knee or use. About 1 1/2 months ago, I was bending down (somewhat deep flexion) when my leg locked and i immediately sat down without putting weight on it. When I was sitting, i tried to get it to extend when I felt a noticeable pop with no pain and it went into extension. Walked my dog with some minor medial pain. Only pain since injury is on medial side of patella when standing for long time or if I sit for long time in deep flexion. I have highly reproducible swelling on lateral side and medial side of knee if i flex deeply, but as soon as a extend even a little it returns immediately back inside the cavity. Off work for med school cycle, so haven’t been working since or putting any strain on it. Went in last week to get MRI since bony fragment showed on radiography, and this was the MRI results. Ortho consult on 11th
Looking for any advice or similar situations. I have a very strong preference in having <10% trimmed and strong preference towards repair over conservative, since I dance regularly as a hobby (ballet, swing, salsa) and am also a lead climber. Appreciate your time. Be as technical as you want, I’ll understand it. I also understand the biased sample this subreddit may offer and that advice on here is not the quality of advice I’ll get from a surgeon actually viewing the MRI and conducting a physical examination exam. & yes the MRI report came back from rads in 45 mins, I wonder if rads rushed the interpretation but it seems highly specific.
