Today is my last day taking antibiotics for H pylori so i wanted to talk about how it went and how i felt to see if anyone else experienced the same as me.
How i got diagnosed:
I was feeling these random sharp abdominal pains so i went to the doctor and she had me do a breath test that later tested positive for h pylori. I was really confused because i didnt really experience any of the other symptoms of h pylori so i couldnt believe that i had it, but i read that there cases where people dont feel any symptoms so i guess thats normal.
What I took:
Tetracycline 4 times a day on empty stomach (2 hours away from Bismuth)
Omeprazole 2 times a day with food
Bismuth 4 times a day with food
Metronidazole 3 times a day with food
My experience with side effects:
First day: normal
Day 2: started feeling slight nausea but felt better after eating. Had dark colored pee and diarrhea
Days 3-8: HORRIBLE NAUSEA, threw up a couple of times, gray tongue, dark colored pee and diarrhea, horrible acid reflux and mouth tasting sour every time i ate
Days 9-12: Little to no more nausea, mouth still sour after eating, starting to get more solid stool, getting hungry almost every 2 hours
Days 13-14: feel pretty good, just stomach feeling empty a lot despite eating, mouth still sour sometimes after eating, and the sharp abdominal pains have come back again and this time worse…
I really hope i am able to eradicate h pylori with this treatment as i do not wanna go through this again. Anyway, did anyone else experience the same symptoms as i did?
