Started cruising around a bit, was surprised with how good it felt. No balance issues or anything. Went to a mini park with a few ramps and was able to ride up and down without any issues. Decided to do a drop-in on a flat ramp, thinking that should be so easy... leaned forward too much to avoid falling back, fell forward instead and fucked up my right (dominant) elbow. Both ulna and radius broken.
Moral of the story: you're old, act like it! Wear pads, go slow, listen to your gut feel and don't overestimate your current skill level...
But also: don't give up! Keep working on your skills even if things may hurt at times. I can't wait to get back on a skateboard and work on it again (in about 4 months)...
