[ONLINE][5e 2014][GMT+1][BEGINNER] Divorced Old Timer

43 yrs old ld guy from Portugal here, completely new to tabletop RPGs and looking for a beginner friendly group.

Never played D&D before, but I’ve always loved fantasy stuff like Diablo and LOTR, and I finally want to give this hobby a real shot.

I’m mainly looking for:

  • patient people who don’t mind teaching
  • beginner friendly games/campaigns
  • online groups (Discord/Roll20/etc.)
  • evening games in European time zones

I’m reliable, relaxed, willing to learn, and not expecting anyone to hold my hand forever just looking for a good place to start without ruining the experience for experienced players.

Any advice, communities, or groups would be appreciated.

2 months back on its first PC release I bought the game worh anticipation and excitement. Didn’t even need to play, I personally feel like I owe to HK because of his artistry and whay he brought to the gaming world.

Im an old school gamer, 43 years old, haven’t played much since ps1. Games feel too big, too long, too complicated , too graphics focused today.

Each time I bought ps2,ps3, ps4, ps5; I played HK games and tried few other games and sold them.

So my point is, the game is again excellent. I loved the story, I had some intense moments, cinematography, music usage and scenes are just 10/10

I’m not going to waste time pointing out good points of this game , if you know you know , but let me tell you what I thought made me think ‘meh ‘ or a bit distanced or bored this time.

Maybe it’s the age , but I played the Ds1 few months ago and I still loved it.

Why ds2 felt different:

- it felt like , bigger , heavier , more intense version of the first game. It’s hard to describe but more than a new story or big twist, it was just ‘ more and stronger of the old one ‘ to me.
- it felt too long. First time ever in HK games history I skipped cutscenes. First time ever! Even though they felt shorter than before, they were less interesting in story wise, but no one can say any bad things about the graphics and its content. It just felt pretentious at points, not as awe inspiring as first one, besides dollman, I couldn’t care less about other characters
- the world felt much bigger. Which is something I never cared before. Making things bigger and longer doesn’t make things better
- lastly ; it felt like it was pushed too hard to make a new story that they didn’t have originally in their mind ( his mind)
- sorry couldn’t have ended around 10th chapter I would be happy with, but it overstayed in welcome, climax after climax attempts felt a bit tiring.

Anyway, it 3rd comes I’m not sure if I’d buy and play this time. By that time maybe I would but for now it’s enough. The story is enough, it’s good to end it without dragging it.

I think first one should have stayed as first one, and there should have been a new game with a new story

It was an honour to play and help with you guys.

THANK YOU HIDEO KOJIMA
