Hello Everyone,

I'm a Canadian citizen, and I was working for a consulting firm in Michigan between early October 2025 to mid-April 2026 on a TN. I was a daily commuter from Windsor-Essex.

I've always struggled with mental health, without getting any support (I'm getting some now), and it led to me significantly struggling with my work performance the last few months, and I was terminated on April 17th. My HR manager didn't really explain the process for the removal of the TN, and I didn't do much research until today, when I checked my i94 visit logs, and it showed I'm still under the TN category.

I've crossed as a visitor (or so I thought) 3 times since getting terminated:

  1. April 22nd to drop a friend off at the airport for a work trip, and I crossed back within 90 min.

  2. April 30th with my family to grab dinner, and crossed back within 2.5 hrs.

  3. May 3rd with a friend to go to Cleveland to watch game 7 between the Raptors and Cavs, and crossed back within 10 hrs.

During the first visit, only my friend was asked about his TN, and during the 2nd visit, neither my sister nor I were asked about ours. So, I thought whatever process the employer follows, got it removed from the CBP/DHS system. But yesterday, I hate blaming my mental health, but I got thrown off when the agent said, "whose the TN?", and so, out of stupid anxiousness, I basically answered how I did during my daily crossing throughout my 6.5 months of employment. Probably the dumbest thing I could have done.

Now, I'll be picking up my friend from the airport this Wednesday, and I'd like to go through the process of removing my TN from the i94, and crossing as a B1 visitor moving forward.

How would y'all suggest I go about this? Thank you!
